19 month birthday

Saturday, Lily enjoyed a local delicacy, the hot turkey sandwich, for lunch:

That afternoon we went for a little jungle hike:

right next to the reasonably-well-manicured lawn of our neighbors':

Then we watered some plants:

Though mostly she watered the grass and I refilled her watering can:

And tonight, she decided that she wanted to try the big kid swing:

(and swung happily for about half an hour.)

Bunny Fun

Tonight we made an impromptu trip to Nana's house. Ian has an extremely impressive garden going, so we had a quick tour of that. And then we got to meet his bunnies. Ian tried to let Lily hold the newest addition, Johnny, but she was either terrified or uninterested.
And here we have Mr. Snookums on the left, and Drater on the right:Ian said the people at Tractor Supply that sold him the bunnies promised they were all males. Turns out that Drater is most likely pregnant and Mr. Snookums is going to be a daddy soon.
And I think the bunny habitat is more landscaped than our yard, what with the little pond and everything. But I look at that last picture and I think "wow, my family probably comes across as a bunch of freaks." I just asked Benjamin if we seem like a bunch of crazy redneck hippies. He said we're crazy and we're hippies but we're not rednecks. So that's good at least, right?

Nana spoiled Lily by making a dinner of lots of her favorite foods- salmon cakes, potatoes, baked corn, and green beans. Lily fell asleep in the car on the way home, and when she wakes up tomorrow morning Aunt Elizabeth will be here. Yay! :)

Almost-summertime fun

I haven't posted anything in a while, so here's a mishmash of things that Lily's been up to lately:

Last weekend, playing with the wagon:

Lanie's said it before, but she loves pointing out the parts of her face:

... and other people's faces, and stuffed animals', and real animals', like Oscar's eyes:

Thankfully, Oscar is a good sport about it.

Saturday we stopped by a bagel place on the way to pick strawberries (where, for once, I didn't take any pictures) - lily enjoyed the benches outside.

And enjoyed the sprayer on the pool when we got back...

... which was somewhat of an electronics hazard at times.

Already having had an action-packed day, Lily still wants to play:

And then her cousins came over for a few minutes:

Cute Stuff!

I actually took these pool pics on Wednesday. She's much more adventurous with it now. :)

And here's what she's doing right now:
Cuddling with Jelly. She is being so sweet and saying "hi kitty!" and petting her. And then she keeps saying "nose!" and trying to touch Jelly's nose. Which doesn't go over as well as the petting. :) (Look how old she looks in that last picture! And she's smiling like that because I said "smile Lils!" hahaha)

Warmin' Up!

I guess summer is here, because it's supposed to be 92 today. I sent Benjamin out bright and early this morning to pump up Lily's new giraffe pool. Lily climbed right in after breakfast. :)No water yet, though. Then she sat and pointed at all of the ants (or "nits!" in Lily-speak) in it while I tried to fill it. Ants literally rain down from that tulip poplar you see there. Kind of a problem...
So I moved the pool up near the shed. I filled it to give it some time to warm up, so maybe she'll get to play in it after her nap.

Then we went strawberry picking with Anna.
At first Lily just wanted to pick the strawberries out of the filled container and put them in the empty one.
And then eventually she figured out what was going on and tried her best to help. She picked the most moldy, squishy, bug-infested berries, and then lots of little tiny, baby, still-white berries. Anna's theory was that Lily was just giving some love to the berries that no one else wanted. :)
Anna and Lily are such peas in a pod. :) Here they are saying hi to the farm dog.
We didn't stay long because it was so hot and Lily was turning very pink (despite being slathered in SPF 70) so I was getting nervous. So we came home, chugged some water, and now she's sleeping.

PS- Please note that Anna's arm is now bandage-free. She had her PICC line taken out on Friday, and so far is doing very well. :) :) :)

Growing Up!

The chicks are big enough to go out and play in the yard now! Lily and I got to be there for the big day. Every time a chicken came flapping out of the coop Lily would flinch. Watch her try to take timid steps towards them to play. :)
